Built on the Round toe last with a storm welt — the welt is raised into a lip against the upper, closing the gap where the two meet. The double leather sole is twice the thickness of our dress soles and takes noticeably longer to break in.

Wearing them in, and keeping them

Break-in

A double sole takes longer than a single. Expect 5–8 wears before the sole starts to flex with your stride.

Polishing

Cream polish every 8–10 wears; a light conditioning wax every third application.

Shoe trees

Insert cedar trees while the shoes are still warm, within ten minutes of taking them off.

After rain

If they get wet, wipe them down, stuff loosely with paper for the first hour, then tree them and dry away from any heat source for 24 hours.
